In the shipping and logistics sectors, drayage is the short-distance transportation of cargo. Drayage is frequently a component of a longer transit, like going from a ship to a warehouse. It is specifically described as “a truck pickup from or delivery to a seaport, border point, inland port, or intermodal terminal with both the trip origin and destination in the same urban area” in some research. Short hauls from ports and other locations to nearby locations are referred to as port drayage[4]. It can also be used to describe the movement of goods inside sizable structures like convention centers.
