Full Truck Load Shipping

Description

Large amounts of uniform cargo, typically enough to fill an entire semi-trailer or intermodal container, are transported using truckload shipping. A trucking company known as a truckload carrier typically contracts an entire trailer load to a single client. This contrasts with a less-than-truckload (LTL) company, which typically loads freight from multiple clients into each trailer. Full Truckload (FTL) carriers have one advantage over Less Than Truckload (LTL) carriers: the freight is never handled in transit, whereas an LTL shipment is frequently transported on various trailers. Typically, 48″ or 53″ dry van trailers—each of which can hold 24 or 26 pallets—are used for truckload shipments.
